Deutschland!

Germany has been quite an amazing experience! Fresh air, green hills and valleys, white asparagus called spargel, and beer so pure and tasteful it's almost heavenly! The Germans are very efficient, systematic and ordered. They conserve electricity, drive small cars, you know those Smart ones, live in small communities, value fitness and the outdoors, and love schnitzel - fried pork. I have enjoyed many of the things Germany has to offer and have put a few extra pounds on to boast...lol!

What is interesting about the Germans is that their government is socialist. In other words, the government pretty much runs the people and the country. Germans have universal health care, redistribute wealth so many citizens are on an equal economic playing field, have a certain number of children per family (1-2), and drive very small fuel efficient vehicles. I mention this because a socialistic government is the direction we are headed in America under the Obaminator. We live in interesting times when our rights as human beings and to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are being removed from us by swift rhetoric and a government that is looking to control everything under the guise of being constitutional!

I'm not saying that Germans do not live happy and fulfilled lives, and there are many aspects of their culture that I applaud and delight in, but we as American citizens, and especially as Catholics are called to be informed and discern all things well. We must remember that the government does not have the right to control our lives, that is our right and that is between us and God. When we begin to loosely except what we are being fed in political speeches and for many this is easy, we should proceed with caution! Let us keep alert, our enemy prowls about like a roaring lion looking for one to devour!
